NES/NES/Gold Coast Records
"Head northeast and the beast of rap feastin' 'em". At a time when most
hip-hoppers expect to be disappointed by their favorite artist's latest, and airplay in most states is down to four or five artists, it takes effort, mad effort to find that real shit. But for cats willing to look, that ill shit exists. For summer 2-thou, head northeast. The latest disc by CT's NES is one of those joints that remind you why you love hip-hop. Nothin' is wasted on this shit. Ill beats by mastermind Java sample everything from Javanese gamelan music to a wild tranked out apocalyptic march. Lyrically, emcees Illon C, K Nitz, Dan da Man, and Java spit death maze puzzle shit that challenges you to figure out what they're saying. When the shit hits, though, its like DAMN, bring that shit back again and again. These cats are definitely ones to watch.-Facet

The Anniversary/Designing a Nervous Breakdown/Vagrant Records
I used to jump on trampolines as a young boy. During summer vacation my parents would drop my sister and I off at my Cousin's house. They had a trampoline. We would bounce on it all day and eat sandwiches with Ovaltine. If someone were to make a movie of me jumping on that trampoline at that innocent age, The Anniversary would be playing in the background. Boy and Girl vocals with heavy synthesizers make for a good album to listen to while reminiscing of days gone by.-Leonard Greco
